Saturday afternoon club started on 7th October.A successful first session for the Saturday club with 14 students attending. Some previous students returning and some keen Wednesday nighters attending both sessions. We are expecting some new students over the next few weeks, so first impressions are that this will continue. The aim was to encourage all those that have other commitments on Wednesday nights, for those that find the evening sessions run too late in term time and for those that would like to practice twice a week to have another opportunity The next few weeks will also have Grading practice workshops. We will initially run this during term times only, from 3:30pm to 5pm. Mixed age group. 10 sessions:- 7th, 10th and 21st October, then a week off for Half term. Then 4th November to 16th December inclusive. The introductory fee of Only £2.00 per session has been subsidised from our lottery grant. Sunday 17th September - Charity Car Treasure Hunt. This was not a race, we said... but taking 5 hours was a bit of a stroll... and you know who you are!!. Good fun day for all those that attended. Weather was good, and likely we will plan another one. Well done Bob for organising and sorting out the BBQ at the end and thank you to our old friends at the Biggin Hill Squash club for letting us use their facilities at the end.(The Bar).Congratulations to the West faimily who won the £40 prize. The red post box that had recently been painted grey was a bit of a talking point, but great plans and all that! Next Budo day planned for October/November.Plans are well underway for the ever popular Budo days. Over 70 people attended the last Budo Day in April with eight different martial arts demonstrated. Sophie helps with both sessions and sets a very good example for others. She helps clear away at night, has represented our club at competitions and our Displays. The final event in the busy summer season finished brilliantly at the Biggin Hill festival. Well done to everyone involved.
(Pictures and some video will be added very soon.) This was our sixth year attending local events with our popular display team. Next year must be even better and selections will start in the Autumn with the first practice day much earlier on in the new year. The team needs a mix of ages and abilities to act as a show case for the club. We are looking to develop more set pieces, self defense, Kata and to raise the tempo of some of the other parts of the display. All videos and pictures from these events gratefully received and what I have will be posted to the Website We have been invited to do a demonstration on the 23rd September during the Darwin School Open day. Still in the planning stages at the moment. Other options also being planned. Let us know if you are available. If you don't have a club badge, please see Sensei Bob as soon as possible.
Any comment gratefully received. Please use the Contact Us link or the tab at the top of the page.
