HOT NEWS: Jack Petchey Endeavour Award Scheme.

We're really excited to announce a new award scheme, sponsored by the Jack Petchey Foundation. The scheme is for 11 – 25 year olds. The award will be given in recognition of a students Effort, Endeavour and/or Exceptional achievement.
(The three ‘E’s).

Every three months the Club’s committee will prepare a list of nominees which will include a brief statement regarding their eligibility.
The winner will receive a framed certificate and a £600 cheque for the club, presented on a club night. A representative of the Jack Petchey Foundation will present all winners with a special Jack Petchey boxed medallion at a formal annual presentation party.

The winner will then select from a list, prepared by the clubs committee, of items or Judo/Social events to spend the £600 on. This will be publicised on the club website and notice board.

Some current ideas, but not exclusively limited too, are; Digital camera and printer, a subsidy towards the competition in July so everyone gets a medal, Laptop and Projector for admin and as a training aid, more mats to extend the training area, Ten-pin bowling event, Family BBQ, Quasar, Disco/Party, Kata and refereeing courses.

For more details go to Student of the Month section, below. Voting closes 7:45 Wednesday 2nd May.

Successful Budo Fun Day

Over 50 people attended this years Budo Fun Day on Sunday 22nd April 2007.. Loads of fun moving the mats at lunchtime into the dance studio, due to a double booking..NOT!!

Lots of vanity checks in the mirrors to make sure you looked cool..I'll add in some more info, pictures and some video in the next few days.
See Courses and Competitions, below for more details.

New Kamiza unveiled.

In the opening ceremony at the Budo Fun day, Dave Bardwell honoured us by unveiling the new Kamiza. The old one was starting to feel it's age and was nearly past repair. It had served us well for many years at the squash club however the new Kamiza design silenced the crowd.

"The Mutts Nuts", as it was put politely. Designed and hand built by Sensei Mick and his Brother Steve over the last few months, I think we now have something that befits the size of the current hall and club. Based on the Japanese Tori-gate kanjii symbol and used predominantly as a structure at the entrance to areas of learning. If anyone else would like something similar, copies can be made at about £2,900 each.(Cash preferably). Look for the Kamiza Album on the photo gallery for pictures and design guides.(Soon)

Next Club Grading will be held on Sunday 13th May, at the Squash Club.

Make sure your licences are up to date.
Check the syllabus page link at the top of the page, and ask any Sensei before the lesson starts if you need any specific help or reminders. Times are being allocated now. Talk to Sensei Bob quickly if there are any problems.
For more details go to Grading section, below.

Saturday afternoon club.

From 3:30pm to 5pm. Mixed age group. 5 - 99
Please check the Events tab carefully as there are several dates in June when the Saturday club will be closed. Either because the Leisure Centre is closed due the Air-show or because we'll all be at the school Fetes.

Student of the Month
The Student of the Month, for April 2007, is Oliver Wheeler..
Consideration is taken for Attendance, Attitude and personal Achievements. The 3 A's.
Oliver attends regularly both the Wednesday and Saturday sessions overcoming some great travel difficulties. He is very astute and arrives an hour early to help set up the dojo as well as with the classes and then revises studiously before his own class starts.

Will it be you next time??
