Club Invitation Competition 1 : Sunday 28th February 2010

Our Annual invitation Competitions have been such a success that we're having two every year now.
After 170 entrants in 2009, we're looking at nearly 200 for 2010

As many clubs had not been able to restart after Xmas, we postponed this from 24th January.
A Friendly competition for invited clubs. originally designed for novices but we now have every age group and every level taking part.

Kata Course. Saturday 13th March 2010.

9:30 for 10:00 start until about 4pm. People travel from all over the South East to attend Richard Raymond's Kata Courses. At Aylwin Judo Club, St Crispins Church Hall, Southwark Park Rd, London, SE16 2JP
All licenced students from any association are welcome, although notification of intent before hand will be useful. Don't miss this excellent opportunity.

Annual Awards Night Nov 2009.

Our third Awards Night ceremony at the squash club. Bigger and better than before!
Starting the festivities between 5 and 7pm we had the updated Gladiator Duel contests in the courts, whilst the parents had a swift one, or three.
After the food at 7pm, we were privileged to be joined by a representative from The Jack Petchey Foundation who gave us an update on the charity and presented the student medallions.
Richard Raymond also attended as our friend and VIP to present the other awards on the night.

Saturday afternoon Little Dragons club -
2:15-3:15
for ages 3 to 5 years

This is a fun energetic session including Judo style games and activities to wear the little ones out, and to start to develop;
Self-Control, Self Esteem, Self Confidence and to have loads of fun.
Pre-booking only, but you're always welcome to watch or book a trial.

Jack Petchey Endeavour Award Scheme.

This scheme is for the 11-25 year olds and is sponsored by the Jack Petchey Foundation.
The award is given in recognition of a students
Effort, Endeavour and/or Exceptional achievement.
(The three ‘E’s).

Nominees are selected every three months and a brief statement regarding their eligibility published.
All the other students vote for the winner, however, a student may only win the award once.

The winner of the 2008 Winter season Jack Petchey Endeavour award was Mellissa Hinkley.
A big thank you to those students who take part by voting.

Sun 28th Feb 2010 2009	- Friendly Invitation Competition at Biggin Hill.
TBC 9:30-1:00	- Friendly Competition v Green Dragon. at Darrick Wood Sports Centre.
Sat 13h Mar 2010 9:30-4:00	- Kata Course by Richard Raymond. A must do. Especially Green Belts.
April TBA	- Club grading at the Squash Club
Sun 12th Jul 2009	- Friendly Invitation Competition.

Club Grading – Spring 2009 - TBA.

The last Grading i December 2009 was held at the Squash Club, Jail lane. Opposite Darwin School.

This is seen now as the preferred venue, although it takes longer, it is less formal and far less scary.. for everyone, parents, students and Sensei's!!

All students should own their own judogi for the grading. Sensei Bob can get these in advance, at below shop prices, so get your details to him as soon as possible.

All students who have been attending for more than 12 weeks are expected to grade and to have taken out full membership after 4 weeks. Those who need to join, or renew, their membership to NAKMAS must get their forms from Sensei Bob well in time.

Students will be allocated a time to attend with similarly graded/aged students. Inform Sensei early if there are problems.

The next Grading will be in April 2010.. date to be confirmed.

Green Dragon v Biggin Hill Inter-Club Friendly : date to be confirmed

Our Annual friendly is ideal for newcomers and experienced Judoka alike. No matter what, Sensei Micks team always wins!! This will be held at Darrick Wood, starting at 9:30 and finishing by 1pm. More details later...

Our Annual invitation Competitions have been such a success that we're already Booked the next one for July.
After 170 entrants in 2008, we're looking at nearly 200 for 2009

Budo day - Return for 2010. Date TBC

We are planning to restart the very popular Budo days again for 2010. A day of mixed martial arts study. 7 different arts by various instructors.
Kempo Karate, Kung Fu, Archery, Judo/Jui-Jitsu, Pure self defence, and much much more. More news in the near future..

Display Team News. Trials on Now

Trials are now taking place and the final team selection will take place in by the end of Feb 2010.
There are 3 dates for 2010 season, with the two schools, the festival in June/July.
A full practice session will be set up for the selected team on the display mat in the early new year.
Team members exist from all abilities and ages.

Our thanks to the 2009 team members. Each received a Commemorative medallion and a Special DVD, cut to music, at the presentation night in November. Extra copies are available on request.

The Sensei's would also like to express their thanks to all the parents who help with the child transport, moving of the mats especially on the rainy days. It is appreciated and does make things easier.
